Contrary to popular belief, hemp oil and CBD oil are not interchangeable terms for the same product.  Both hemp oil and CBD oil have their own unique properties that affect your body in different ways. We’re going to go over the similarities and differences of these products so you can be an informed consumer and decide for yourself which product best fits your needs.

Hemp Oil

Hemp oil, or hemp seed oil, is extracted from the seeds of industrial hemp. Since the oil comes from the seeds and not the leaves, flowers, or stem of the cannabis plant, hemp seed oil does not contain THC or CBD.

Hemp seed oil is not used for recreational purposes because there are minimal to zero traces of THC and CBD, both of which cause the psychoactive effects.

It has been suggested that hemp seed oils can help people maintain good cardiovascular health by improving overall cholesterol levels and triglycerides.  However, studies to prove these claims’ efficacy are not clear.

It has, however, been proven that when hemp seed oil is added to nutritional products — such as bars, breads, and yogurt — it provides an excellent source of nutrients rich in unsaturated fatty acids and essential amino acids.

CBD Oil

CBD oil is made from the leaves, flowers, and stalk of the hemp plant.  This is the only part of the plant where cannabidiol can be found.

There are three different types of CBD oil on the market:

  • full-spectrum CBD oil, which contains all compounds of the cannabis plant, including a small amount of THC
  • broad-spectrum CBD oil, which contains several compounds but no THC
  • CBD oil made using CBD isolate, which contains only CBD

The medical benefits of CBD oil include treatment for epilepsy, pain and inflammation, anxiety and depression, neurodegenerative conditions, and many more. Currently, the FDA has only approved the use of CBD for antiepileptic measures but there are ongoing studies for its other uses.

Now that we’ve cleared up the difference between hemp and CBD oil, it is important to ensure you are purchasing certified products for maximum effectiveness and quality.  Calmr CBD oils offer a high-quality product that is THC free, pesticide free, and has no binders, fillers, excipients, dyes, or unknown substances. Our CBD oil is CO2 extracted and is tested in-house and through a third-party lab to ensure that the products you receive are the highest quality available. Feel free to visit us at calmrbio.com
